Recovery Knee Brace Guide: Fit, Wear & Care

Thanks for choosing CompressiveX. Everything you need to set up, use and look after your gear is below.
Watch: how it works

The Recovery Knee Brace – Spring Support brings compression, spring side supports and hot or cold therapy together in one brace. This guide covers what's in the box, how to fit it, when to use the gel pack, and how to look after it.

What's in the box

  • Starter
    • 1 × Recovery Knee Brace – Spring Support
    • 1 × Dual Thermo™ Pack (19 × 14 cm) for hot or cold therapy
  • Rotation Kit
    • 1 × Recovery Knee Brace – Spring Support
    • 2 × Dual Thermo™ Packs (19 × 14 cm) for hot or cold therapy
    • 1 × CompressiveX Travel Case (free) to carry your gear

How to fit your Knee Brace

  1. If you're using hot or cold therapy, prepare a Dual Thermo™ Pack first (see the hot & cold therapy guide), then slide it into the pocket behind the kneecap opening.
  2. Undo the straps and sit with your knee slightly bent.
  3. Position the brace over your knee so your kneecap sits in the open patella opening, with the spring supports running down each side of the knee.
  4. Fasten the straps around your thigh, knee and calf. Adjust them until the brace feels snug and even all the way round.
  5. Bend and straighten your knee a few times. The brace should stay in place without pinching or digging in.

Snug, not tight. The straps stretch to about 80 cm around the thigh, 60 cm around the knee and 65 cm around the calf. If you wear the brace for long periods, loosen the straps every 4–6 hours. If your leg tingles, goes numb or changes colour, loosen the straps or take the brace off.

Two ways to use it

Recovery mode: with the gel pack

With a hot or cold Dual Thermo™ Pack in the pocket, use the brace while you're sitting, resting or in a recovery session. Use it for about 15–20 minutes at a time and check your skin every 5 minutes.

Active mode: without the gel pack

Take the gel pack out before you get moving. On its own, the brace gives compression and spring-stabilised support for walking, stairs, everyday movement and exercise.

Always remove the gel pack before running, training or active movement. The brace isn't designed for extreme load-bearing or vigorous bending and straightening of the knee, which can deform the spring strips.

Care and cleaning

  • Take the gel pack out before cleaning.
  • Hand wash in cool water, 30 °C or below. Press gently; don't soak or scrub.
  • No machine washing, spinning, tumble drying, ironing, bleach or strong detergent. They can damage the fabric and deform the spring strips.
  • Air dry in the shade, away from direct sun.
  • Store the brace flat and don't bend the spring strips.

Looking after the gel packs is covered in the hot & cold therapy guide.

Safety

Read the health warnings before use. Talk to your doctor before using the gel packs if you have a circulatory or sensory condition, diabetes or reduced skin sensation. If pain or swelling persists or gets worse, stop using the brace and see your doctor or health professional.
